I Can Call

FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

The calls

Am I actually speaking out loud?

Yes, that's the point. You talk, they reply in a voice, and the whole thing runs at the speed of a real call. If you're somewhere you can't speak, you can switch to typing instead and still get feedback.

Is it the same conversation every time?

No. The person, their mood, the excuse they give and how hard they push all change. Replay the same skill tomorrow and you'll meet someone else with a different reason to say no.

What if I freeze?

Then the call eases off. If you go quiet or lose your thread, the other person gets more patient instead of piling on, and a short prompt appears to get you moving. When you're doing well, it goes the other way and they get harder.

Can I practice a specific call I have tomorrow?

Yes — "I have a call soon". Tell it who you're calling, what you need and what you're worried about, and it builds that conversation around your worry. That's on the paid plans.

How long is a practice call?

Short on purpose. Two minutes on Free, up to ten on Real and twenty on Real Pro. Most useful calls are over in three or four minutes.

Your account and privacy

Is my practice recorded?

We keep the written transcript so the app can tell you what happened and track your progress. You can turn that off in Settings, and then only the feedback is kept. We don't keep audio recordings of your calls.

Who can hear my calls?

Nobody. They aren't shared, published or sold. The voice is produced by a specialist speech provider that processes the call for us and doesn't get your name or email. See the privacy policy for exactly who touches what.

How do I delete everything?

Settings → Account → Delete account, in the app. It removes your history, progress and sign-in, straight away. There's also a form here if you can't get into the app.

I forgot my password.

Tap "Forgot your password?" on the sign-in screen. We email you a code; type it in and set a new one.

The app itself

Why isn't it in the Play Store?

It will be. For now you install the file from this site, which means Android shows its usual warning about apps from outside the store. The download page walks through it.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not yet. It needs a separate build and an Apple developer account, and app-locking needs a permission Apple grants individually. Email us and we'll tell you when it's real.

Does it work without internet?

No. The conversation happens on our servers, so you need a connection — Wi-Fi or mobile data both work.

How much data does a call use?

Roughly what a normal voice call over the internet uses: a few megabytes for a short practice.

What does Call to Unlock actually do?

You pick apps — the ones that swallow an evening. When you open one, I Can Call appears instead and asks for one practice call. Finish it and the app opens for the time you chose. It only ever watches for the apps on your list, it's Android-only, and you can switch it off whenever.

Is it for me?

I'm not scared of calls, I just handle them badly.

That's most people who use it. Over-explaining, agreeing too fast, apologizing for asking — those are habits, and habits respond to practice.

Is this therapy?

No, and it won't pretend to be. It's rehearsal. If phone calls are tangled up with anxiety that affects your life, please see someone qualified; practice can sit alongside that, not replace it.

Does it work for job interviews or sales calls?

The skills overlap — being direct, handling pushback, not filling silence. The situations lean towards everyday life: landlords, managers, clinics, refunds, saying no to a friend.

What languages?

English for now.
